I offer two different instruments for my clients, the Hill 1a Classical and the Hill 1a Flamenco. Both guitar models are hand built to perfection by my hand alone.

I use well air-dried North American cedar and European spruce for the guitar tops, using either a traditional fan strutted system - my ´Granada´ model - or my version of the modern ´Lattice System´ using a light grid on the front.

The ´Granada´ guitar produces a beautifully balanced tone, with clear trebles and profound bases, and plenty of volume for concert use. The ´Lattice´ guitars now known as the ´Gary Ryan´ model as played by the master player himself, produces a penetrating and powerful guitar with balance throughout the range and slightly more volume. We also offer a limited production of Hill 2a Guitars built to a very high standard right here in the workshop by my apprentices, under my supervision.

For backs and sides, I am currently using Indian, Madagascan, Cocobolo, Bolivian and Rio rosewoods - wherever possible using old stock and from well managed forests. For necks, I use Brazilian cedar produced sustainably (FSC) and Indian ebony for the fingerboards.
